This trip is special because it consists of game drives and walks in Awash National Park to encounter wildlife and numerous species of unique birds, enjoying the scenery of the national park and the amazing view of Awash fall as well as an exotic experience at Doho Lodge and Hot Springs, situated at the fabulous northern edge of Awash National Park, which is a luxury resort with natural hot springs, lakes, palm, and acacia forests and the vast Typha reeds added to its natural beauty.

A game drive to Aldeghi wildlife reserve, which is a home for numbers of endangered animals such as Grevy’s Zebra and as well as many species of birds. A well-organized village and market day visit to see the colorful Afar and Kereyu Communities, it’s recommended for tourists to visit the mysterious dwellings of these colorful communities in the surrounding villages.

Day 1 Drive from Addis Ababa to Awash National Park via Adama

Sodere Resort Hotel

We will stop for a brief refreshment at Sodere resort hotel is a resort hotel established in 1951 G.C, It is known for its natural hot spring water which is said to have a medicinal value. Then we will proceed with our trip to Awash National Park and overnight at Awash falls lodge.

Day 2 Awash National Park

Awash National Park

This is a day to explore Awash National Park. Awash Falls Lodge, a place located inside the park, next to the fall; Game drives and walks are available to encounter the wildlife and enjoy the scenery. We can expect to see many mammals and over 400 species of birds on the way to the lodge, you are likely to see beisa oryx, kudu, defassa waterbuck, Soemmering’s gazelle, warthog, and baboon. A park is also a great place for birdwatchers.

Day 3 Awash National Park to Doho Lodge

Awash National Park

After an early morning game drive in the vicinity of the park, we exit the park and drive 33.5 km east to Doho lodge, crossing the main road and heading towards Filwuha Hot Spring. This is a hot springs oasis where luxuriant vegetation flourishes in the midst of a lava desert that is home to the rare, restricted-range Sombre Rock Chat, which favors old lava flows and much other birdlife. In the cliffs behind the springs are colonies of Hamadryas baboons. The hot springs are crystal clear, and extremely hot – better to get in the early morning or late afternoon. Overnight at Doho lodge.

Day 4 Game drive to Aldeghi Wildlife Reserve

Aledeghi Wildlife Reserve

Our game drive this morning is at the nearby Alledeghi Wildlife Reserve. The main attraction here, in addition to the species mentioned above found in Awash Park, rare Grevy’s Zebra and Wild Ass, both listed as critically endangered species. In the afternoon we will return to the lodge and stay there for refreshing activities such as a hot bath/showers, swimming, boat rowing, and spa services provided by the lodge.

Day 5 Visit Afar and Kereyu Communities

Afar

The Lodge has a well-organized village and market day visits to see the colorful Afar and Kereyu Communities, it’s recommended for tourists to visit the mysterious dwellings of these colorful communities in the surrounding villages. Among others, they dwell nearby the Park. They have very interesting and attractive lifestyles with their own culture, languages and historical backgrounds. One can see the sharp contrast between the two societies as you stroll through their unique pastoral villages. Afternoon we drive back to Addis Ababa.
