Aba Jifar Palace

The palace which is situated about 6kms out of the town center was built for the famous king of Jimma, Abba Jiffar, who ruled over Jimma from 1878 up to 1932. The palace was built on a low hill overlooking the city which its architectural style strongly resembles that of early colonial constructions. Within the compound, there are four buildings: the public mosque (which is still in use today), the mosque of Abba Jiffar, his presidential palace, and the palace of Abba Dula (the grandson of Abba Jiffar).

Chebera Churchura National Park

Early in the morning after breakfast at our camping spot, we will go further inside the park. It is one of the relatively untouched, recently discovered, and rich in the wilderness. The Park is fortunate in possessing numerous rivers and streams and four small creator lakes, which are reasons for the rich wildlife resources of the area. The topography of the park is so unique and highly heterogeneous and hilly terrain, with few flat lands and highly undulating to rolling plains with incised river and perennial streams, valleys,s and gorges. Larger mammals and numerous species of birds are inhabiting the park. Common mammals include the African elephant, hippopotamus, Cape buffalo, lion, and leopard. The park is the best site to see the African Elephants, and Buffalo as well as forest birds like Trogon and Turacos. Overnight camping in the park sleep listening to the amazing forest sounds

Chebera Churchura National Park

After having breakfast drive and walk towards Lake Bulo with the help of local guides and scouts in order for us to watch the African elephant, hippopotamus, Cape buffalo, and if we get lucky even lions and leopards. Drive and game view towards Shoshuma Campsite, especially for elephants. Shoshuma River rises from the northwestern highlands of the Konta area highlands crossing the northeastern part of the park and mixing with Zigina River inside the park, which goes down together to Omo River. Overall it is a habitat for more than 37 species of larger mammals such as Elephants, Buffalos, Hippo, greater Kudu, lions, leopards, several cats. And more than 237 species of birds of which 5 of them are endemic to Ethiopia. And overnight camp inside the park.

Tiya World Heritage Site

We will make a quick stop at Tiya World Heritage Site on the way to Addis. Tiya is a place located in the Soddo Region of Ethiopia which is best known for its archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site remarkable for its large stone pillars, many of which bear some form of decoration. The menhir or stelae, 32 of which are engraved with enigmatic symbols, notably swords, mark a large, prehistoric burial complex. A German ethnographic expedition had visited the site in April 1935, and had found at one hour’s journey to the south of the caravan camp the stone monoliths with sword symbol, which had been seen earlier by Neuville and Père Azaïs. The archeological site was designated a World Heritage Site in 1980.
